The BUDS School of Poothrikka Grama Panchayat is a social and educational institution dedicated to children with special needs, including those with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Cerebral Palsy, and related conditions. In Kerala, BUDS Schools generally function through the joint efforts of Local Self-Government Institutions and the Kudumbashree Mission.

Admission

Generally, admission is available for children above the age of five who require special care and support. Medical and/or disability certificates may be required. Applications can be submitted through the Panchayat office or the school authorities.

Inauguration of the BUDS School

The BUDS School commenced operations in the M. Chackopilla Memorial Building at Kinginimattom, constructed using the Asset Development Fund of the Kunnathunad MLA. The inauguration was held on 19 July 2024.

The function was presided over by Shri T. P. Varghese, President of Poothrikka Grama Panchayat. The school was formally inaugurated by Hon. Shri Benny Behanan, Member of Parliament, Chalakudy.

Distinguished guests present at the function included Shri P. V. Sreenijin, MLA, Kunnathunad; Shri Manoj Moothedan, President of the District Panchayat; Smt. Rasina Pareeth, President of the Block Panchayat; Smt. Regina T. M., District Mission Coordinator, Kudumbashree; and Shri Joy P. Jacob, Secretary, MOSC Medical College.
