Poothrikka Grama Panchayat
Smrithilayam Crematorium has been established by Poothrikka Grama Panchayat to provide dignified, hygienic and environmentally friendly cremation services. The facility operates with modern technology and provides a faster, cleaner and more environmentally responsible alternative to conventional cremation methods.
Considering the needs of the public, the crematorium has been arranged in a manner that enables people to make use of the facility conveniently. Along with ensuring fuel efficiency, pollution control and safe operation, necessary facilities are also provided for the family members of the deceased. This initiative of the Panchayat contributes significantly to public health protection and environmental conservation.
The Gas Crematorium is owned and managed by Poothrikka Grama Panchayat and provides modern and environmentally friendly cremation services to the public. Special service rates have been fixed to ensure quality services at affordable rates for the people.
Residents of Poothrikka Grama Panchayat are provided the service at a concessional rate as part of the Panchayat's social welfare initiatives.
A further concession has been provided for economically weaker Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe residents of Poothrikka Grama Panchayat.
A service charge of ₹4,000 is applicable to users from other local self-government institutions.
The Gas Crematorium of Poothrikka Grama Panchayat was inaugurated on 16 July 2024 in a grand function. The facility was inaugurated by Hon. M. B. Rajesh, Minister for Local Self Government, Kerala. The function was presided over by Hon. P. V. Sreenijin, MLA, Kunnathunad.
Hon. Benny Behanan, MP, Chalakudy, attended the function as the Chief Guest. District Panchayat President Shri Manoj Moothedan, Vice President of Poothrikka Grama Panchayat Smt. Sini Joy, Development Standing Committee Chairman Shri Mathews Kummannoor, Welfare Standing Committee Chairperson Smt. Bindu Jayan, and Health & Education Standing Committee Chairman Adv. Biju K. George extended their greetings.
The function was attended by ward members, elected representatives and members of the public. The Panchayat President Shri T. P. Varghese delivered the welcome address and Panchayat Secretary Smt. Sindhu V. presented the report.
The Gas Crematorium project has become an important step towards providing modern and environmentally friendly cremation services to the public and has become a significant milestone in the development history of Poothrikka Grama Panchayat.
