Anganwadis
Anganwadis are basic child development centres that function for the welfare of children and women in both rural and urban areas. Operating under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, Anganwadis provide a range of welfare services to children below six years of age, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and adolescent girls.
Through Anganwadis, children receive pre-school education, supplementary nutrition, health check-ups, growth monitoring, and immunization services. In addition, pregnant women and nursing mothers are provided with health and nutrition awareness programmes and guidance.
Anganwadis play a vital role in ensuring the physical, mental, and social development of children and in improving maternal and child health. Their services also help reduce malnutrition and health-related problems in the community while promoting healthy lifestyles and overall well-being.
